I visited OKC for the first time for a weekend trip in October after moving to Dallas from DC. It's a very impressive place! Impressive enough to reconsider whether to buy my first home in the DFW, or whether to look north to OKC.

I grew up in Oklahoma and lived in OKC for 20 years before moving to Southern California. There’s so much I miss about Oklahoma, especially the people. OKC is where the South ends and the West begins so the culture is a blend of the two: Southern hospitality, Western independent-mindedness, live and let live. The tornado fears are really overstated (in 50 years as an Oklahoman I saw exactly two with my own eyes). Weather forecasting there is World-class so just pay attention, the way we in SoCal pay attention during fire season. If you move there, do adopt Oklahoman ways; you’ll find it very relaxing. OKC and Tulsa are both undiscovered gems.
